All QSI and MTH After Market Train control Sound systems require a reverse unit. 1993-2000: All MTH locos that were shipped without ProtoSounds units were equipped with DCRUs, and a whistle or horn board. All MTH QSI ProtoSounds Train Control Sound Systems do not have a separate DCRU. The bottom board includes the DCRU feature combined with F & R directional 1.5 Volt Lighting power, Marker Light power, a Power Supply, Auto-Battery-Off, and a Coil Coupler Driver, with a second driver possible.
