Super Caps
559      Super Capacitor (2/pk) 559. Use 1 per board above to crate flicker free lighting. Lights will remain on  for 10 - 20 seconds after power had been removed, depending upon brightness
 setting.

For extra long on-time after disconnecting power, use 2 Super Caps per board. Great for simulating train cleanup in the service yard.

In the heyday of passenger service, all passenger cars had a generator turned by moving wheels and battery backup. When the batteries were fully charged, a car could maintain full AC service for 3 days.

With Amtrak, locos now carry a diesel generator supplying 440 AC to the cars and as soon as it is unplugged from the cars, the cars' lights, AC and heating, etc. are dead. The cars do not have any significant battery backup.
