STR Board Repair Charges Policy

The minimum charge on any order for repair is $30 per set of boards, whether the boards will work or not.

That charge is over ridden by the usual work performed on good boards:
Re-initialization of the sound board for the chip that is in it. $15
Chip replacements are additional, ranging from $15 to $45
Updating the power supply: $15 - $25.

Any repair issues are $5 per part replaced:
Up to a maximum of $20 for a bottom board (QSI Reverse Unit or MTH PS1 P-3 or P-4 bottom board) which will trigger a replacement with a known good used bottom board.
Up to a maximum of $20 for a top board (QSI AM or MTH AM or PS1) which will trigger a replacement with a known good used top board.
The After Market Power Supply will, after 1 or 2 parts replacement(s), be declared un-repairable,
which will trigger a replacement with a known good used top board: $75

If any part replaced does not produce the desired result, traces will be checked and if possible repaired.
If not then a replacement board is the only solution.
Note: It is impossible to determine how many parts will need to be replaced in a dead board ahead of time.
When a board is replaced, all charges on previous work for the original board are absorbed in the replacement cost.

Calling it quits after replacement troubleshooting leaves you responsible for the original $30 plus the parts replacements charged per board set.

Calling it quits before parts replacement leaves you responsible for just the original $30 per board set.

98% of product sent to STR for repair needs only the $30 work.
