A comment of general interest from an interested STR Website reader.

Is there any chance that the LASU boards will ever be re-introduced? In my opinion as well as that of many others that use them they are far superior to any others that have been introduced since.
Doug

Dear STR Website Reader,

While your observation has been heard many times over from others, that was not the perception during the time that these products were being offered by QSI.

It was "The cheaper one is 'good enough' " mentality that undercut the QSI sales, eliminating the rational for continuing production.

QSI has since changed its focus from being a manufacturing company to being a design company, supplying any and all model and toy train manufactures with electronic product designs, enabling them to build their own solid, tested products.

While Fred Severson has ideas for a number of interesting new sound variations to further enhance the listener appeal, no manufacturer has expressed any interest in wanting to manufacturer and distribute LASUs, or for that matter, SoundBloxxs.

If you feel like Doug, write (letters still carry a greater impact than email) to your favorite model or toy train manufacturer and specify the gauge(s) you are interested in, and list desired sounds that are not in the original QSI offerings (which are listed on the STR website), and encourage those "many others" you know to do likewise.

Remember, it was the final straw that broke the camel's back, not the 1st or 10th or 100th) and who knows, if enough folks write, perhaps in a couple of years you will be able to pick up any number of next generation LASUs and Sound Bloxxs, which will be smaller, better and less costly than the ones first made, all from your local hobby shop.
