All MTH ProtoSounds1 sound systems (1994-2000) can be upgraded with any or all of these features:

All ProtoSounds1 bottom boards should have the Power supply enhancement installed.

Increased Motor continuous current. Standard is 2.5 Amps. Upgrade choices are 4.0 or 6.0 Amps.

All MTH ProtoSounds1 locos can be upgraded to either a QS2p or
QS-3000 Sound System:

All locos upgraded to QS2p or QS-3000 can be further upgrade to provide for 2 independent transformer operated coil couplers: Sound Syst & Opts Prices: Two Board Sound Syst, by providing a 2nd CC driver.
Paragraph 4.
Upgrades for transformer operation of 2nd coil coupler with QS-3000
a) Upgrade QS-3000 board to send 2nd CC logic signal "downstairs". $5.
b) Upgraded bottom board to operate coil coupler by adding a 2nd CC driver.
When chassis is present: $32. (Coil coupler wiring is changed.) Without Chassis: $30.

Coil coupler for most locos: $10. Same design as used in most diesels.

Auto Battery Off feature was not included in the 1994 series of these locos.

These used the D78233 micro Processor equipped top boards.
These include the first runs of the following locos:

*(some) Weaver Samhongsa Hudsons
The * marked ones above do not have the Auto Battery Off feature.
The bottom board can be upgraded for Auto Battery Off. $36.

All of the above listed locos have the 233 µProcessor and are eligible for a special upgrade to QS2p.
Upgrade includes a 237 µProcessor equipped board and any one of the above sound sets in QS2p form. Removal and installation instructions including. Return the 233 equipped board for a $10 refund:
